One of my idols in life is Anne Boleyn.
Yes, she’s that ambitious home wrecker who manipulated English royalty in the 16th century. Here are the things she did:
-betrayed her sister (Mary Boleyn)
-betrayed the Queen (Queen Catherine of Aragon)
-committed incest (Attempts to conceive….unfortunately, she’s unable to produce a male heir, but hey, Anne had Queen Elizabeth, one of the greatest queens of England ever.)
-severed ties to the Catholic Church resulting in the Protestantism in England….this was done just so King Henry VIII could divorce his wife
-committed adultery (Apparently, she had Henry VIII wrapped around her finger to go as far as taking Princess Mary’s (his daughter with Catherine of Aragon) title.)
-murdered people for political gain (How else was she successful with the conversion to Protestantism?)
Well yeah, those things seem pretty bad but still, Anne Boleyn was obviously a go-getter. Consider the status of women during those times…they weren’t respected or given as much rights as men. Anne on the other hand played the seduction card! Props to her for using sexuality to her advantage. Hey, she got to be queen and had the king to his knees. Women could only show aggression through covert means.
Anne was sent away to France for her studies, and when she went back to England, she was a sensation! Everyone wanted to be with and BE her. I mean, she’s a very learned woman with an incredible sense of style. She was such a trendsetter back in the day, although people hated her for being “the king’s whore.” Sadly for those opposing their union, Anne wasn’t just a fleeting mistress. She was to become England’s most important queen consorts of all time. Oh how Anne shook the whole court with her cunningness.
So there, that’s Anne Boleyn for you. She may have had a grim ending, but she knew what she wanted, and she achieved them as well!
Hell yeah….I want to be a smart, strong and alluring woman like her someday.
PS: If you’re wondering why I know all these shit…it’s because I’ve always been interested in history, specifically on the Tudors. I love the Tudor era because it’s the most hedonistic royal dynasty ever!
